Power, Culture and Psychology: The Driving Force Behind the National Image Gap Between Self-Image and Other-Image

摘要:

在国际关系中,国家自塑形象与他塑形象之间存在的形象鸿沟是指国家形象主客体对该国形象的认知、评价与情感方面的鸿沟,这在数字化驱动的形象政治时代具有扩大化趋势。国家自塑与他塑形象鸿沟的生成具有权力、文化与心理三个层面的动力。在权力层面,形象鸿沟的生成受到国家间权力博弈、西方霸权主义的驱动,在文化层面受到跨文化差异、文明冲突的影响,在心理层面受到集体自尊、集体情结以及心理认知误区的驱动。理解与超越国家自塑与他塑形象鸿沟,需要从战略高度加强国家形象设计、管理、沟通与修复,保持文化自觉与文化自信,加强文化主体反思意识,建立稳固而富有弹性的国家主体形象。

Abstract:

The “national image gap” between self-image and other-image is based on the subjective cognition, evaluation and emotion gap based on the objective existence, which has a tendency to expand in the digital image politics era. The generation of “image gap” has three hidden driving forces of power, culture and psychology. At the power level, the generation of the image gap is driven by the power game between countries and western hegemonism, influenced by cross-cultural differences and civilization conflicts at the cultural level, and driven by collective self-esteem, collective emotions, psychological cognitive misunderstandings at the psychological level. To understand and transcend the “image gap”, it is necessary to strengthen the national image design, management, communication and repairment from a strategic perspective, maintain cultural consciousness and cultural confidence, strengthen the reflective cultural subject consciousness, and establish a stable and flexible image subject.
