Abstract:

Since the end of the Cold War, American politics has undergone profound and complex changes. To date, the prevailing view of changes in American politics is that the United States is increasingly polarized and characterized by veto politics. In fact, the trend in American politics is toward conservatism rather than polarization, and most Americans are already conservative believers of different factions to varying degrees. The overall warming of conservatism is the result of the combined effect of the small domestic environment of the United States and the larger environment of today’s world. Only by making sober assessment and judgment on the conservatization trend of American politics can we better guide the formulation of policies toward the United States and the handle diplomacy with the United States, and promote the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations.
